Still no ET tube and plans for a tracheotomy are on hold.....
I went to see mom today, not much has changed. She had a weird contraption on her face, though. It is called a bi-pap machine. She had it on yesterday but it just covered her nose and mouth, the one today was a full-on mask that made a seal around her eyes too!! It was weird to see, but the nurse said it was better for people with claustrophobia. The nurse asked mom if she liked it better and she shook her head "yes"!!!
Mom now has a bladder infection and bronchitis. Not good, but she is on medication for both and she is getting breathing treatments. They also do percussive treatments. It is a little contraption that "pounds" on her chest to loosen the stuff in her lungs so that, hopefully, she doesn't get pneumonia!! She opened her eyes a little easier and kept them open for a longer time. They were going to try a new medication to help wake her up. I am not sure if it worked.
